The municipality will sometimes have hearings on different matters. For instance, if you are a neighbour to or affected by, for example, a new building, the parts will be given a chance to give an answer to the hearing. There can also be public hearings on new public plans, where everyone can give their opinions during a hearing.
Announcements are slightly different. These are permits that are made public so that the public has the possibility to make a complaint.

The municipality tries to engage with the citizens to give them a chance to affect their local area. One of the ways to do this is by holding different meetings with the citizens, e.g. information meetings, vision meetings, etc.

On different topics and areas, there are a set of boards and councils that function as links between the municipality, citizens, and politicians. The areas go from volunteering and seniors to disabled and more. There is also a specific integration council, which represents migrants and refugees in Vejle. The members of the council are elected every four years from citizens who stand for election. The council also has members from the city council and municipal staff.

Vejle Municipality has 29 active local councils in local areas of the municipality – both in the city, smaller towns, and villages. The local councils are independent associations that are engaged in the development of the local community. The municipality works together with the local councils and there are different possibilities for financial support. The local councils work on many different topics, from making local playgrounds to working on health issues and much more.
