Transportation

    • Whether you are driving, cycling, using public transportation or moving around in another way, you may want to pay attention to the rules and regulations on this area.
Driving licence

If you are an EU citizen with a licence obtained in another EU country, you are allowed to drive with your driving licence in Denmark. It's not mandatory to exchange your licence for a Danish one, but if you desire, you may apply for an exchange.

To exchange your licence you must contact the citizen service (Borgerservice) in the municipality.

To read more about the rules and the required documentation for exchanging your licence, click here.

Cycling

Denmark is a country where riding a bike is very popular, and Vejle is no exception. You will find biking paths in many places around the city. Danes ride their bikes both as transportation and for fun, and it is very helpful to know the rules for biking if you want to do the same.

Find the rules as well as tips on this page.

Public transportation

From Vejle Trafikcenter you have access to both trains and busses (both in the city and to other cities). The easiest way to find connections to where you want to go is through Rejseplanens journey planner.

For bus schedules in and from Vejle, visit the Sydtrafiks website.

Remember that you must have a valid ticket when you use public transportation in Denmark, or else you will be fined.

If travelling by train, you can buy tickets in automats at the station, in 7-eleven shops, online through dsb.dk or the dsb app. Bus tickets can be bought on the bus from the driver. If you arrive by train you can use your ticket on the busses as well (for the zones included in the ticket).

You can also get a Rejsekort, which is an electronic ticketing system that works on both trains and busses. With Rejsekort, you check in your card at the card reader on the station or on the bus, and you check out when you get off the train or bus. The cost of your travel will then be deducted from the card.

For more information on Rejsekort and ordering one, click here.
